  • Parent Ed – How to Raise an Adult

Parenting is hard. But we're all in it together.

At St. Anne’s School, we know it takes a village and whole lot of laughter to navigate the challenging, rewarding, and nuanced parenting journey. We view ourselves as part of that village and enjoy partnering with parents to share the latest research through our free Parent Education Series. Our next session is on Tuesday, March 19 at 8:30am, and all are invited to join us at St. Anne’s School to hear Connie Coker, Head of School, and Dr. Charles Parmele, Pediatrician at Annapolis Pediatrics, discuss parenting, and in particular, strategies for raising an child adult. Pulling from concepts outlined in Julie Lythcott-Haims New York Times Bestseller How to Raise an Adult, Mrs. Coker and Dr. Parmele, along with other local parents, will discuss the cultural shift towards “overparenting,” how this reigning paradigm disservices children, and strategies for raising self-reliant, happy humans. Reading Lythcott-Haims’s books is not a prerequisite, but if you’re so inclined, feel free to grab a copy at your local bookstore, on Amazon, or listen to the audiobook on Audible or Spotify.
