athletics

Fifth through Eighth Grade Middle School students have the opportunity to become members of the St. Anne’s School of Annapolis Stars athletic teams and participate in interscholastic cross-country, field hockey, soccer, basketball, lacrosse, and tennis.

The athletic program at St. Anne’s School of Annapolis offers students an outlet, beyond the classroom, to feel connected socially, valued as a team member, and to experience success outside of their comfort zone. By participating in our program, students develop their physical strength and athletic skills. In addition, they learn the importance of commitment and good sportsmanship while cultivating a life-long interest in fitness and enjoyment for competitive play.

There are no cuts within the St. Anne’s School of Annapolis Stars sports program. Tryouts for some sports determine whether an athlete will be placed on an A or B team. These designations are made in accordance with an individual’s grade level and ability, and are in line with the Independent School Athletic Association. Team placement using these criteria makes competition more equitable for competitive teams.

We ask parents to discuss team membership with their child. It is our expectation that students who come out for a sport understand the commitment they are making to the team and truly have a desire to play.
